Ashya was raised here in Alamosa and graduated from AHS. After high school she moved to Pagosa Springs where she lived for three years but happened to find her way back home! Ashya started working with Dr. Mejia in 2011. She regards education as a high standard and shortly after working in the field of dentistry she received her dental assisting degree from Stradford Career Institute. Ashya enjoys every part of being a dental assistant! Her favorite part is getting to know new people and being able to help them. Ashya also enjoys camping, hunting and just being outdoors with her husband Jose and her two beautiful daughters Tanaya and Taliya.
Kayla Espinoza
Dental Assistant
Kayla was born and raised in the San Luis Valley. She has been in the dental field for 13 years and brings extensive experience as a dental assistant. She earned her Dental Assistant certification in 2012 and has held her EDDA (Expanded Duty Dental Assistant) certification since 2016. Kayla enjoys working with her community and strives to make every patient visit a positive and memorable experience. She has four children of her own and two additional children she’s embraced as her own. In her free time, Kayla enjoys spending time with her husband and children, traveling, hunting, camping, fishing, and enjoying the outdoors.

A native of the San Luis Valley, Char began her dental assisting career in 2015 and quickly discovered her passion for patient care. She strives to create a welcoming and friendly environment where patients feel comfortable and supported throughout their visit. Helping patients feel confident about their smiles is what makes her work so rewarding. She values being part of a team that provides compassionate care while building trust and lasting relationships with every patient.
Shasta Bond
Dental Assistant
Shasta is currently working in the dental field while studying & pursuing a career in nursing. She loves any opportunity in helping patients feel comfortable and cared for. Outside of healthcare, Shasta has a passion for videography and photography and enjoys spending time in the mountains and babysitting. She values connecting with people in meaningful ways—whether through patient care, capturing memories behind the camera, or simply lending a helping hand.
